	The Prosperous New City

	Yonghe city was ancient tribal world, the Xiulang tribe of Pingpu tribe. As anthropologists have explored, “Xiulang” was sourced from ancient Dutch. Yonghe and Chunghe were under Chunghe Township. In 1958, Yonghe area was upgraded as Yonghe Town. Because of the rapid flourishing population, it has become the main industrial and residential district in South Taipei City. In 1979, Yonghe was promoted as “Yonghe City” under Taipei County Government.

	Yonghe City is located in the Southeast Taipei Basin, bordering Taipei City along the Sindian River. Yonghe City is a flat plain; there is neither mountain nor hill. Its geographical terrain is gradually lowering down from the southeast to the northwest. In 1930s, Yonghe was a typical agricultural country herein various agricultural fields and most residents were farmers. The transportation in Yonghe almost was depended on field trails except several avenues paved with crushed stones. Then the Chuan Dunei Road (current Yonghe Road) was a bigger one among many in Yonghe.

	Because of the separation of the Sindian River, if those people who were bound for Taipei City must take on a ferryboat. At that time the bigger ferry harbor was the WangSi Ferry by which assisted native people across the Sindian River and to transport between SiJhou and Taipei. Now a previous site of the ferry harbor was located in the GuangFu Street lined along with the Gardenia jasminoides. When the flowers bloom, the perfume of Gardenia jasminoides is irresistible.

		The Sindian River borders on the Taipei City.

	In 1958, the “Yonghe” Town has been designated and established. As the dead ex-provincial councilor Mr. CHEN GEN-TU narrated, “Yonghe” was designated by a great old man in the town, Mr. YANG JHONG-ZUO. Mr. Yang thought that every immigrant from ZhanZhou, ChangZhou or other areas should understand the meaning of lasting peace and collaboration for the residents in the town and the understanding will assist them to attain a prosperous city and secure permanent peace.

"The Yonghe City" is full of human resource and vigor.

The City borders on a river with Taipei city. It possesses the high level culture and the rapid rising population and various public constructions and the convenient transportation system and the prosperous business activities; therefore the city has a high quality residing environment. The area of Yonghe City is merely 5.599 square kilometers and it was the smallest town in Former Taiwan province. Its population has exceed 220 thousands people and the main branch of local self-governing organization is “Li”, and the City has subdivided into sixty two “Li”s and the population of each square kilometer in the city exceeds forty thousands persons, therefore it is the most intensive area of the crowd in the world.

The glaring neon billboards in the evening have signaled its bustle and prosperity.

As Taipei City rapidly plays the role of an international city, Yonghe City is swiftly rising, too. We can be encountered by the same prosperous scene of streets in both areas. And many immigrant youths reside in Yonghe who are newly married couples and who have children to refresh the structure of local population and their high level education background; the immigrants have upgraded the quality and quantity of the population. As a result, the Yonghe City becomes a young and prosperous new city.

Local civil constructions are in great stride.

Under the joint venture of the local government and the organ of public opinion and all residents, the Younger City has been considered as an ideal place of residing and the real estate market has boomed and has become an easy enrichment business over these years. The unmarketable property is rare. The vacant lots have been reduced significantly and old houses are rebuilt at the same time.

As the consequence of the local prosperity, the land and house price are climbing. Despite general house price in Yonghe City is still less expensive than the price in Taipei City, it is the highest one in Taipei County. Although this City is crowded, the local government is endeavored to the transportation construction and has intention to connect the network of transportation between the City and nearby areas and has devised a long-term planning to attain next milestone in the forthcoming future.

The CKS Bridge is one of main bridges between the Yonghe City and Taipei City.

The Yonghe City and Taipei City are separated by Sindian River. Most of important transportation routes must depend on the bridges. Now there are the CKS Bridge, Fuhe Bridge, and Yongfu Bridge. These bridges make Yonghe residents easily access Taipei City, so they play the crucial role of transportation in the development of Yonghe City.

Because of the high quality living, the outsiders immigrate herein rapidly and these bridges cannot satisfy current requirement of the local transportation. As a result, the mayor has discerned the requirement and has devoted himself to build the second CKS Bridge. He has invited different ranking representatives of public opinion and the staffs of relevant organs to activate the construction of the Bridge as early as possible to disperse the transportation between Yonghe City and Taipei City. He intends to make municipal transportation more convenient and modernized.
